You heard right!  The details of the much anticipated Greenview Church Wide Campout and Lodge Getaway has been set for Friday, October 1st.  We have rooms available at the lodge, for those who prefer it, at $83.95 per room, with an additional $10 per person for the 3rd and 4th persons.  We also have campsites available for $24 a night that will hold up to 8 people per campsite.  In order to make sure we have an accurate count, payment must be received at church no later than Sunday, September 26!

Dr. Lew Sterrett, of Sermon On The Mount(http://www.sermononthemount.org), will be at the M & B Racking Ridge Farm at 431 Thomas Road, in Foster, Kentucky, this Friday and Saturday, August 13th and 14th.  The presentation goes from 7-9 PM each night, but the grounds, food and vendor booths will be open from 5-11 PM both days!  Dr. Sterrett takes horses that are unruly, and through the course of his event, brings them along in their behaviors.  He uses this to talk about how our lives are often like that in regards to God--He is leading us, but we don't always want to follow!  This is an exciting ministry opportunity, and we are grateful for the good folks at Grant's Lick Baptist Church(www.grantslickbc.com/joomla//) in southern Campbell County for being the host church for this event.  The program has also been endorsed by the Northern Kentucky Baptist Association(http://www.nkbaptist.org), which is made up of 70 Southern Baptist churches throughout Northern Kentucky, of which Greenview is a member as well.  

Come out and support our Greenview Youth, who will be sponsoring a food booth and cooking up delicious hamburgers and hot dogs, along with chips and drinks!  All monies raised will go to the Greenview Youth Camp Fund, so you'll know its going for a GREAT cause!  Greenview continues to be involved in new and unique ways that we can be in outreach, and this is but one way that we can do that.  Come on out and invite your friends--we'd love to see you there!

For the third straight year, Greenview will be hosting a booth at the Boone County Fair in Burlington, KY.  This year, we will have freebies to hand out, as well as selling some Sillybandz and Glosticks for the kids (or the young at heart).  The church will also have information on the various ministries, and it's always a fun time.  Please stop by our booth near the main entrance and say "hello."  We'd love to meet you in person!

Greenview's booth will be manned from 5-11 PM each day, and all day on Saturday!

Greenview's youth group, SNL, will be hosting a Spaghetti Fundraiser for their trip in July to Johnathan Creek and their "Crossings Camp" in western Kentucky.  We are looking to have a great turnout, and if you plan on attending, please contact the office at (859) 525-6004 with how many will be attending from your family, or you can contact our youth minister, Ryan Petrie, directly, at (859) 462-7004.  If you can't stay, but would like to make a donation, stop in the fellowship hall long enough to make a quick donation and say "hi!"  Thanks for your support!!!

We honor the unsung heroes of the American family, --dads--on this Father's Day.  Join us on Sunday, June 20th at 10:50 AM as we plan a worship time around the ideas of "dad."  We will also learn what a great Heavenly Father we have, as well as be blessed by great worship, special music, and much much more!   We will even have a gift for all the dads in attendence.  Come on out and join us, and invite your family as well!

Because of the holiday, we will NOT be having evening worship services or activities on Father's Day.

That's right, VBS is HERE!!!  Greenview's theme for this year is Gospel Light's "Son Rock Kids Camp", where kids will go on a high adventure with God's love!  Join us for this camp themed week and have lots of fun learning about Jesus--we have classes from Preschool--5th grade!  Lots of fun, food, games, and wild, wacky stunts will make this a GREAT VBS to be part of!  Come on out July 5-9 from 6:30-9 PM each night!  You can even Pre-register online!

The ladies of the Greenview Baptist Church Women's Missionary Union will be hosting a 2nd annual Church Yard Sale THIS SATURDAY, JUNE 19TH from 8 AM--1 PM.  There will be lots of special items for sale, so you're invited to come on out and browse and see what is for sale!  We are also selling spaces for rent.  For $10, you get a table, and you can set up and sell what you have.  All we ask is that you are honest about what you sell, and make sure that all products are functional.  If you would like to rent space, please call us at (859) 525-6004 or email the church secretary at gbcsecretary@fuse.net as soon as possible to reserve your space! :)  

We are excited to announce that the Waza Warriors Karate Club meets each Monday night at the church @ 7 PM in the fellowship hall.  The church will still be offering a free monthly karate class on the 1st Saturday of each month, but this new karate club is for children, youth and adults who would like to delve a little deeper into the self-defense martial arts.  All classes are taught by our youth pastor, Ryan Petrie, a certified black belt.  Sensai Ryan encourages anyone who is interested to contact him as soon as possible.  The cost for the courses (which include the opportunity for the student to earn recognized belts) is $15 per week per student, or $40 a month!  Discounts are available for families who enroll multiple children!  Should you have any interest in signing up, or signing up a youth or child...please contact Ryan Petrie at rwpetrie@yahoo.com or call him at (859) 462-7004.  All classes are taught from a Christian perspective.

This coming Sunday, May 9, is Mother's Day.  We are SO thrilled to have an opportunity to acknowledge, celebrate, and honor the mothers in each of our lives.  We are blessed with so many wonderful mothers at Greenview.  We have some news which will be of interest to all of our members, attenders, and guests on this precious day:

The schedule for the Mother's Day Services are as follows:

9:30 AM--Sunday School (Classes for All Ages)

10:50 AM--Morning Worship Celebration:  Mother's Day Emphasis  (All mothers present will receive a FREE GIFT as  you leave the sanctuary at the conclusion of the service).

We normally have an evening service at 6 PM, as well as youth and children's meetings, but after much prayer, we have decided to cancel evening services so that families may spend some precious time together.  We encourage all of our members to do something special on this Mother's Day:  To spend time with a mother you know (a friend, your mom, your wife, etc.) and show them your appreciation for all that they do.  We would also encourage those whose mothers have passed on to use this day as a time of reflection and honor of your loved one.  We understand that there are those who feel strongly that the church doors should be open, but we also feel that time spent with one's earthly family is important as well--and the church should encourage that as we may have the occassional opportunity to do so.  We will also do the same for Father's Day, in June.  May God bless each one of you, and may He certainly bless all of the wonderful moms out there!  We will resume REGULAR Sunday night worship services and activities on Sunday, May 16th. 

The Southern Baptist Convention, at its 2009 annual meeting in Lousville, authorized the formation of the Great Commission Resurgence Task Force to explore any way that we might do a better job of reaching the world with the good news of the Gospel.  They were instructed to issue a final report and any reccomendations in time for the 2010 Annual SBC Meeting to be held this June in Orlando, FL.  So, on Monday, May 3, 2010--the Committee released the report.  There are a number of recommendations that have been made.  The reccomendations are listed below, but you are encouraged to read the report for yourself to gain a better understanding of what is being asked!

1)  That the messengers to the Annual Meeting adopt a new mission statement which reads:  "As a convention of churches, our missional vision is to present the Gospel of Jesus Christ to every person in the world and to make disciples of all the nations."

2)  That the following Core Values be adopted as a Convention and implemented at all levels (National, state, and local):

  CHRIST-LIKENESS, TRUTH, UNITY, RELATIONSHIPS, TRUST, FUTURE, LOCAL CHURCH, KINGDOM.

3) that the Messengers REQUEST the Executive Committee of the SBC (which runs the day-to-day operations of the Convention) consider recommending to the SBC the adoption of language and structure of Great Commission Giving as described in the report to "enhance and celebrate the Cooperative Program and the generous support of Southern Baptists channeled through their churches."  We further request that the board of trustees of the International Mission Board and the North American Mission Board consider the adoption of the Lottie Moon and Annie Armstrong offering goals as outlined in this report.

4)  that the Messengers REQUEST the Executive Cmte to consider any revision to the ministry assignment of the North American Mission Board that may be necessary; and that the Board of Trustees for the NAMB be asked to consider the encouragements found within this report...

5)  that the Messengers REQUEST the Executive Cmte and the International Mission Board consider a revised ministry assignment for the IMB that would remove any geographical limitation on its mission...

6)  that the Messengers REQUEST the Executive Cmte to consider working with the leadership of the state conventions in developing a comprehensive program of Cooperative Program promotion and stewardship education in alignment with this report.

7)  that the Messengers REQUEST that the Executive Cmte consider recommending an SBC Cooperative Program Allocation Budget that will increase the percentage allocated to the IMB to 51 percent by decreasing the Executive Cmte.  percentage of the SBC Allocation Budget by 1 percent.

Yes, the annual carnival is JUST AROUND THE CORNER!  GBC's share this year includes providing drinks for sale at the carnival, set for May 15th from 12 PM--6 PM.  We also, along with SKNS, are providing gift baskets to auction off at the silent auction.  These were BIG moneymakers last year, and we look forward to having as good a time this year, too!  All proceeds are split 50-50 between the Nursery School and the Church, and we are still looking for volunteers to fill the slots for booths, games, etc.  Please stay tuned to this website for the LATEST INFO!  

The Regular Bi-Monthly Business Meeting of the Greenview Baptist Church, originally scheduled for Wednesday, April 14, has been postponed to Wednesday, April 21st @ 7 PM.  This was done for two reasons:

1) So that proper advance notice may be given to our members (this is the courteous thing to do).

2)  To allow more time for the Nominating Committee to secure nominations for some important openings on church boards.

Come support the students in SNL Youth Group of Greenview Baptist Church!

Students are raising money to help get them to summer camp, so we are going to be showing a movie on the big sanctuary screen.

The event will take place on Friday, March 19th @ 7 PM, at the church, located @ 1050 Burlington Pike, Florence, KY.  

There is a $5 suggested donation.  Refreshments will also be available for sale at the door, be sure to grab some!!!
